Beth Smedley served as the Charlotte area's community career counselor for the Career Transitions program at Central Piedmont Community College, in Charlotte, NC for over five years before beginning private practice in January 2012. Beth utilizes her 15+ years of experience in career counseling to reach a wider audience.
Specifically working with individuals making career transitions for over 13 of those years, she has a drive to help others fulfill their career dreams. Beth holds a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri and a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. She has a knack for helping others showcase their talents to prospective employers, narrow down career fields and college majors, and research the labor market to make smart career choices.
She has extensive abilities working with mid-life career changers, those involved in development, real estate, design, banking and other professions as well as high school students preparing for college and college students with undeclared/undecided majors.
During her time with the Department of Labor, she was part of an innovative program to provide extensive employability skills training and re-entry advising to dislocated workers in a variety of industries. Her work with Displaced Homemakers in Florida, led her to write a grant to start up a new program to assist Single Parents and Displaced Homemakers receive training at a community college in high demand occupations.
